Visceral Manipulation was developed by Jean-Pierre Barral, DO and PT in France. The abdominal organs are connected
by a complex system of fascia and ligaments, which can be disrupted by surgery, disease, or trauma. Using a gentle touch and focusing on the small movements of each organ, it is sometimes possible to relieve pain in various body areas which may not have responded to other treatment approaches. Visceral treatment encompasses the vagus nerve, the thoracic area, the digestive tract, the liver and spleen, and the pelvis area.
Visceral manipulation aids recovery after abdominal surgery, trauma to the abdomen, and often can help with persistent pain in shoulders, lowback, mid-back or hips.
Maria has taken a Barral Institute course as well as the Visceral course offered by the Hugh Milne Institute
Treatments available with either a cash-pay at my clinic, 4009 Bridgeport Way W, or through insurance at a nearby clinic or home visits. Please call me at 253 370-3290 to discuss your condition and schedule an initial visit.
